Jack Field just turned 100 years old and has been volunteering for West Auckland Riding for the Disabled for the past 47 years. West Auckland RDA is a volunteer organisation providing weekly therapeutic horse riding for children with a wide range of disabilities and challenges.

Jack had a daughter who died when she was a baby of spina bifida, a birth defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don’t form properly. Since then, Jack has dedicated his life to children with disabilities and co-founded West Aukland RDA to give children with disabilities stimulation in all areas of function and experience a calm focus and a learning experience.

RDA is Norma Hayward, president of West Aukland RDA, says that Jack is a warm, generous and kind man. In true Kiwi style, an outdoor party was organised by the association for his 100th birthday. ASB Good as Gold was present and made a NZ$10,000 donation to the association.
